Effective date: 5 September 2026
These Terms are the agreement between you and HAYDAR SAS about your use of foaf. By creating an account you accept them.
A few things worth knowing up front:
Each section below is written to be read. Please do read it.
These Terms are between you and:
HAYDAR SAS Société par actions simplifiée à associé unique · Share capital €1,000 47 rue Vivienne, 75002 Paris, France SIREN / RCS: 104 899 992 R.C.S. Paris EUID: FR7501.104899992 Contact: hello@foaf.app
In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean HAYDAR SAS. "You" means you. "foaf" or the "Service" means the foaf application at foaf.app and any related service we operate under that name.
These Terms incorporate our Privacy Policy.
To use foaf you confirm that:
If any of these stops being true, you must stop using foaf and delete your account. We may close accounts that do not meet these conditions, without notice.
Signing in. foaf uses one-time codes sent to your email. There is no password. Each new code cancels the previous one; a code you requested earlier will not work.
One account per person. Do not create a second account or let anyone else use yours.
Keep your email secure. Anyone with access to your email inbox can sign in as you. Your email account is your key to foaf — protect it accordingly.
Be truthful. The whole point of foaf is that it introduces you to people based on who you actually are. Give it accurate information: your real name, your real age, your real photograph, your real circumstances. Misrepresenting yourself is a breach of these Terms and grounds for removal.
We describe the Service here so that you know what you are signing up for.
Getting to know you. When you join, foaf begins a conversation with you. It asks about your life, your work, what you are looking for, and what matters to you. It builds a private profile from your answers. It asks for at least one clear photograph of your face; without one, it cannot introduce you to anyone.
A city threshold. foaf works city by city. Until a city reaches a minimum number of members, no introductions are made there. We will tell you where your city stands.
Daily suggestions. Once introductions are open, foaf shows you a small number of people each day and asks what you think. Your plan determines how many. Where a city's pool is small, foaf may show fewer than your plan's maximum — it will say so rather than pad the list.
How matches happen. If you respond positively to someone, foaf may show you to them. If they respond positively too, a shared conversation opens. foaf may also decide on its own that two people should meet, and open a conversation without waiting.
You will not be told which it was. foaf does not disclose whether a conversation opened because the other person chose you or because foaf did. This is deliberate. It means nobody enters a conversation carrying the weight of knowing they were, or were not, someone's first choice.
Shared conversations. foaf opens the conversation with a warm introduction and then goes quiet. It may occasionally contribute. Either member may ask for foaf to leave; that request must be accepted by the other member before it takes effect. Once foaf has left, either member may invite it back.
Blocking and reporting. From any shared conversation you can end the match, block the other member, or report them. A blocked member will never be suggested to you again.
Discoverability. You can switch off discoverability at any time from the menu. You will stop being suggested to anyone, and your conversations stay where they are. This is the right option if you want a break — you do not need to delete your account.
Availability. We aim to keep foaf running at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We carry out maintenance and updates, and will give reasonable notice where we expect meaningful disruption.
We may change all of this. Features evolve. Section 19 explains how we handle changes.
foaf is an artificial intelligence system. It is not a human being.
We state this before your first conversation, in accordance with Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the AI Act). It remains true throughout: every message from foaf is generated by software.
What follows from that:
Every other member is a real person. We do not populate foaf with synthetic profiles, and we never present an AI as a human member. If you are talking to someone other than foaf itself, you are talking to a person.
foaf can be wrong. It forms impressions and makes judgments, and some of them will be poor ones. A suggestion is an opinion, not a verdict. Treat it as you would a suggestion from a well-meaning friend who does not know either of you perfectly.
foaf does not give professional advice. Nothing it says is legal, medical, financial or psychological advice.
foaf keeps notes. It records what you tell it, in order to do its job. Our Privacy Policy explains what it keeps, what it calculates, and how to ask a human being to review any decision that affects you.
You agree to:
You must not:
You must not upload, send or share content that:
Photographs. foaf may decline a photograph that does not clearly show your face, or that it believes is not you. If a photograph you send is sexually explicit or otherwise prohibited, it is removed from your profile, retained only for review by our staff and, where applicable, for referral to the authorities, and never shown to another member.
Everything you write, upload or share on foaf remains yours. We do not claim ownership of it.
To operate the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt and display your content — limited to the following purposes:
This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we must retain something under section 10 of the Privacy Policy.
We do not use your photographs in advertising, sell your content, or license it to third parties for their own purposes.
What other members share belongs to them. You may read it in the ordinary course of using foaf. You may not copy it, save it, republish it, or use it for any other purpose. Screenshotting a conversation and posting it elsewhere is a breach of these Terms.
We do not verify what other members say about themselves. Use your judgment.
The foaf name, logo, design, software, text and everything else we have created belongs to HAYDAR SAS or our licensors. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service as intended. Nothing more.
If you send us a suggestion, we may use it freely and without owing you anything. Please do not send us confidential ideas.
Reporting. You can report a member or a message from within any conversation, or write to hello@foaf.app. Tell us what happened and where. We review every report.
How we moderate. We use automated detection alongside human review. The most serious categories — child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, credible threats — are prioritised and result in immediate removal.
What we may do. Depending on severity and history: a warning, removal of content, restriction of features, suspension, or permanent removal. Serious violations lead straight to permanent removal, without refund.
Telling you why. If we remove your content or restrict your account, we will tell you what we did and on what ground, unless the law prevents us or telling you would endanger someone.
Appealing. If you think we got it wrong, write to hello@foaf.app within six months, explaining why. A person who was not involved in the original decision will review it. We aim to respond within fourteen days. If we were wrong, we will reverse it.
Abusing reports. Repeatedly filing reports you know to be false is itself a violation.
Privacy of others. We may not be able to tell you what action we took regarding another member's account.
| Free | Gold | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | €0 | $14.99 / month or $99 / year |
| Daily suggestions | 5 | 7 |
| Daily messages | 50 | 100 |
| Summon foaf when a conversation stalls | — | 3 per day |
| Match briefing | — | Yes |
| foaf's best effort | — | Once per week |
| Priority in matching | — | Yes |
We may also offer foaf's best effort as a single purchase at $4.99 for members without a Gold subscription.
Prices are shown inclusive of applicable VAT where required.
Price changes. We may change prices with at least thirty days' notice, sent by email. A change never affects a period you have already paid for; it takes effect at your next renewal. If you do not accept a new price, cancel before it takes effect.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method for the subscription and each renewal.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price then in effect, until you cancel. A monthly plan renews monthly; an annual plan renews annually.
For annual plans, in accordance with Article L215-1 of the French Consumer Code, we will remind you by email that the plan is due to renew, and that you may choose not to renew, no earlier than three months and no later than one month before the renewal date.
You can cancel at any time from your account settings, online, without contacting us — as required by Article L215-1-1 of the French Consumer Code.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep your Gold features until the end of the period you have paid for. Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account — see section 13.
Gold increases what foaf can do for you. It does not guarantee that anyone will be suggested to you, that anyone will respond, that a conversation will go well, or that you will meet anyone. Nobody can promise that.
As a consumer in the European Union, you have fourteen days from the day you subscribe to withdraw, without giving any reason, under Articles L221-18 and following of the French Consumer Code.
To withdraw, write to hello@foaf.app stating clearly that you are withdrawing. You may use the model withdrawal form at the end of these Terms, but you do not have to.
We refund you within fourteen days of receiving your notice, using the same payment method.
Important. Because foaf is a digital service that begins immediately, when you subscribe we ask you to confirm two things: that you want the service to start straight away, and that you understand you will lose your right of withdrawal once it has been fully performed. If you ask us to begin immediately and then withdraw within the fourteen days, we may charge you in proportion to what you used before withdrawing.
Beyond fourteen days, payments are non-refundable, and we do not refund partial periods — except where a refund is required by law, where we fail to provide the Service in accordance with these Terms, or where we close your account for a reason other than your breach.
Single purchases such as foaf's best effort are consumed on use. Once used, they cannot be refunded.
If we remove your account for breaching these Terms, you are not entitled to a refund.
If you ever subscribe through Apple or Google, cancellations and refunds are handled by them under their terms, not by us.
Delete your account at any time from the menu. This permanently deletes your profile, photographs, conversations and matches, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Cancel any active subscription before deleting, or you may continue to be charged.
If you only want a break, switch off discoverability instead. Your data stays, nobody is shown your profile, and you can come back.
We may suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms, if you use the Service in a way that harms other members, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service.
For anything other than a serious breach, we will give you notice and, where the matter can be put right, a chance to put it right. For serious breaches — content involving minors, threats of violence, fraud — we act immediately.
If we close your account other than for your breach, we refund the unused portion of any subscription.
Ending your account ends your licence to use the Service. Sections 9, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 21 survive.
We do not run criminal background checks. We do not verify identity documents.
foaf asks members for a real name and a real photograph, and it questions photographs it suspects are not genuine. That is not verification. It is a filter, and filters can be passed.
You are responsible for your own safety. Some sensible precautions:
If a member makes you uncomfortable, block and report them. If you believe you are in danger, contact your local emergency services — in the EU, 112.
We are not responsible for the conduct of members, on the Service or off it. But we do want to know when something goes wrong, and we act on what we are told.
foaf relies on third parties — a payment processor, an email provider, cloud hosting, and an AI model provider. The Service may also contain links to external sites.
We are not responsible for the content, availability, security or practices of third-party services. Where you deal directly with a third party, that relationship is governed by their terms, not ours.
We provide foaf with reasonable care and skill. Within the limits of the law, we do not promise that:
Nothing here excludes the legal guarantee of conformity owed to consumers under Articles L217-1 and following of the French Consumer Code, or the guarantee against hidden defects under Articles 1641 and following of the Civil Code. Those apply regardless of what these Terms say.
We are liable for damage caused by our own fault, in accordance with French law.
Within the limits the law allows:
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence (faute lourde) or wilful misconduct (faute dolosive), or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
If you break these Terms or the law and that causes us loss — a third-party claim, a regulatory penalty, legal costs we have to bear — you are responsible for that loss, to the extent it results from your own fault.
This applies only to loss actually caused by your breach, only where the breach is attributable to you, and only to the extent French law allows a claim of this kind against a consumer. It is not a general indemnity, and it does not make you responsible for our mistakes.
The Service. We improve, change and sometimes remove features. Where a change materially reduces what a paid plan offers, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel and receive a refund of the unused portion.
These Terms. We may update these Terms. For material changes we will notify you by email or in the app at least thirty days before they take effect. If you do not accept them, you may delete your account before that date; continuing to use foaf afterwards means you accept them.
Minor changes — a corrected address, a clarified sentence — take effect on publication.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer resident in another EU member state, you keep the protection of any mandatory provisions of your own country's law.
Talk to us first. Most problems can be sorted out directly. Write to hello@foaf.app and we will do our best.
Consumer mediation. If we cannot resolve it, you may refer the matter free of charge to a consumer mediator, under Articles L611-1 and following of the French Consumer Code. Our mediator's details are available on request at hello@foaf.app and are published on foaf.app.
Online dispute resolution. The European Commission's ODR platform is at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Courts. If mediation does not resolve it, either of us may go to court. As a consumer you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence or in the French courts, and we may only bring proceedings against you in the courts of your country of residence — in accordance with Regulation (EU) 1215/2012.
No arbitration, no class action waiver. We do not require you to arbitrate, and we do not ask you to give up your right to participate in collective proceedings. Such clauses are unenforceable against consumers in the European Union, and we would not want them in any case.
Whole agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about foaf.
Severability. If a court finds any provision unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision immediately, we do not lose the right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not transfer your account or your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours in a corporate transaction, provided your rights are not reduced.
No agency. These Terms do not create a partnership, employment or agency relationship between us.
Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is for convenience; the English version prevails, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise.
